First things first; this Supremo
coffee mill made by Hearthware is hands down, a great little coffee
grinder. A burr grinder like this, is a must have item for a true
coffee lover. It offers the ability to grind to perfection, only the
coffee needed at the time of use, optimizing your specialty coffee bean
purchases. The Supremo has a 17 position grind selector that gives you
the option to grind from coarse to very fine and everything in between.
(The coarse setting - is ideal for a french press; and the fine setting
- is actually fine enough for my pump espresso machine.) It has a timer
dial that can be set from 2 to 12 cups, which also has an override off
position... and you activated it all, by touching a start button. The
Supremo is compact and portable...in fact, not much larger than a
typical blade grinder, but SO much better, considering the burr set
grinding wheels produce a much more consistent grind that improves your
coffee extraction. Also, unlike a blade grinder, the burrs crush the
beans, rather than cutting them, which generates less heat...and less
heat means more favor from your coffee beans. Now for the best
part...unlike the old version I was selling a while ago, this new
version has a removable burr set that pops out for easy cleaning; a
really nice feature. It all adds up to an all-around better design for
